At a glance it's easy to mark Shard as a man of war; the wear of his equipment, the stiffness of his posture, and the ferocity he displays in combat all tell of a life lived on the battlefield. His manners, however, are reserved and quiet, and he speaks little unless it's necessary, struggling to hold both conversations and eye contact with even his closer acquaintances. He is often perceived as rude, even cold, and he does little to discourage this opinion.In spite of his best efforts to portray himself as an unfeeling, stoic mercenary, Shard has a deep empathy for the plight of others and though he seems reluctant he cannot easily deny a request for aid.
